During Leo’s training at Camp Elliot Leo was part of the 2nd Marines, 2nd Tank Battalion. He trained on light tanks.

After completing officer training, Leo received a ticket to Eddie Cantor’s Time To Smile broadcast from Camp Elliott. Click on the ticket to listen to the same show Leo did.

Palmyra Archive site claiming to be “the largest collection of materials from the history of the Palmyra Atoll!” Leo served on Palmyra from August 5th, 1942 to October 15th, 1943.

Leo later transferred to the 1st Marine Division, 1st Tank Battalion. He was with this group when he was killed at Peleliu.

Short Snorter Project. A banknote which was signed by personnel traveling or meeting together. After his death, Leo’s Short Snorter was returned in his Wallet.
